| I feel better now. I guess half the emails I sent out were to spammers. Here's another one:

The single mother who's rarely at home in the Inner Sunset room is a scam; I saw another ad for this one and then when you respond they send you another e-mail making you sign up for a credit report at CreditAmerica.com, which is the scam, since it signs you up for a "free" trial period but with 3 hidden credit card charges from then on that you have to call to cancel.
The same spiel was contained in an ad for a room in a very nice house in Twin Peaks, and I ran into the same CreditAmerica.com spiel and requirement.
So any reply you get from someone requiring you sign up for the credit report at that site is a scam! --------------- Good thing I was too lazy to run the credit report. I knew there was a catch in the original ad. Amazing house in Twin Peaks, woman is not there often and needs someone to watch her house when she's out of town. Fishy. Knew it. This one was a bit obvious to me (not that I looked at it, nothing is free, especially rent. Free rent usually involves sex somehow):

this is some kind of webcams.com spam scam.
don't bother doing it.
"she" will tell you to get an account on webcams.com so you can see the house and her exhibitionist lifestyle
it's fake.
she didn't show up there, the site is private cams, i thinks it's just spamming for that site.
be careful. -------------------------- Since there's a book on everything now, I've got a great idea "Housing scams to beware of on Craigslist." Y.
| And why it's stressful (but hilarious): http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/roo/946971023.html$950 RE: 2 Rooms in Sunny Garden Oasis Home with 3 Soulful Women! (castro (castro / upper market)

Beware of this place. One of the "soulful" roomies is renting out the rooms after kicking out her housemates who have lived there for several years because they asked her to clean up after herself and to take care of the things she borrowed from others without asking. The other "soulful" roomie has never lived in the house. The garden was built and maintained by the people being forced out, and is not currently producing anything. The rest of the house was made beautiful by the people who have lived there...the first "soulful" roomie hasn't done much of anything to work on or contribute to the house in a few years. Finally, the house is shared by five people. The rent for the entire place is under $3200. $3200/5....nowhere near the 850, 950 or 1050(!) being charged by so called "soulful" roomies. It is a beautiful place, but you will be living with irresponsible, dishonest people who are overcharging you by hundreds of dollars to subsidize their own rents and the mortgage payments on the 2nd "soulful" roomie's house. Just wanted anyone interested to know these things. Take care and good luck. ------------------------ I'm also hesistant about viewing Victorians in Haight. The last two times I was looking for housing, both times people posted warnings about certain Haight postings. One ad claimed to have 4 girls and 1 guy living there. There was also a brief questionnaire including "What's the craziest thing you've ever done?". When you showed up, it was only the guy who said all 4 girls couldn't be there but they were able to leave video interviews. And you get to view them with him in a private room. The person who posted the warning ad said it was extremely creepy watching all the girl house-hunters go with him into the room. Um, can you say premise for online porn? "Oh, you're pretty. You want to take off your shirt? C'mon we'll be roommates and probably see each other in less." It also makes me wary of postings with questionnaires now. Questions are one thing, but questionnaires about "wildest thing you've ever done" is suspicious. I'm tired. And I've only looked at four places. Blegh. Bright side, I’m not afraid about making noise late at night. Watcha gonna do? Complain and try to kick me out? Ha. I’m not even on the lease. Suck on that! I'm also leaving lights on. I've already paid my flat rate for the utilities. Who wants to throw a loud, energy-sucking party at my place? (I’m not bitter. Or tired.) Y.
| Darn it! I'm looking for housing, again. Blegh. I'm tired of moving every 6-9 months. Sssshhhh, don't tell my roommates. They're in the middle of breaking up (ie, one's in denial thus far). No one's said anything about moving out to me but I need to find a new place to hang my hat.I'd put this out on facebook but they have that too. Luckily, I haven't told anyone in the past 3 years about this journal. So let me know if any awesome, large, conventially located places open up in SF (ha!). This is a good thing because I really need a larger place that I can entertain people at past 10 o'clock. But man, this apartment is so covenientally located. Sigh. I'm tired of being a nomad. -Y. | | |
| My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red than her lips' red; If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. I have seen roses damask'd, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes is there more delight Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks. I love to hear her speak, yet well I know That music hath a far more pleasing sound; I grant I never saw a goddess go; My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground: And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare As any she belied with false compare. | June to-do List: -Doctor Appointment -Optometrist-been dying for new glasses forever -Dentist-time for semi-annual checkup that’s 6 months overdue I completed my March to do list so maybe making a list helps. Problem is I have insurance from work now (rather than a centralized student health center) and have no idea who or where to go. So many choices! Work is stressful; lots of changes going on. Other parts of my life are going great…knock on wood. Moved into a small ("cozy") apartment in Castro in April. My roommates are great. My car finally has a door handle again, yay! Didn't need file taxes as I didn't make enough last year. Joined 24-hour fitness and have been going 3x/week. Reunion with glasses dinner club girls Presidents' day weekend, and will again July 4th weekend. Y. | | |
